Are you ready for some futbol??? The 2010 World Cup is upon us, and whether you plan on tuning in for the matches or the hotties on and off the pitch (we’re looking at you, Beckham…and you, guy at the third to last bar stool), you won’t be lacking in viewing opportunities! Tons of New York City bars are singlehandedly trying to convert us to the “other” football, and with specials like complimentary beers and shots, we’re kicking the idea around. Here’s our comprehensive guide to the best viewing parties, whether you’re rooting for the Samba Kings or the Socceroos.

For all you Aussie fans, or fans of those down-under accents, The Sunburnt Cow is your Cup destination. The bar will play host to every Australia match and serve $2 Buds, lest you forget we are in America (tear). Prizes will be given away throughout the matches as well, so the ballplayers won't be the only winners/losers. For fans looking to broaden their horizons, head to baby sister bar The Sunburnt Calf which will air all matches but feature the same deals. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!

If you've been craving cachaca lately (the stuff caipirinha’s are made of) and are rooting for the green and yellow this year, Esperanto is the place to be. For every early morning and afternoon game (and of course all Brazil matches), Esperanto will take $1 off their beer prices and divvy out free shots of cachaca whenever “The Selection” scores. Sticking with the freebie motif, they will also be raffling off special World Cup t-shirts, prime for waving after those gooooooooools!

Rooting for the team across the pond? This authentic British pub will cater to all of your drinking and fish‘n’chips needs. Those of you hooligans sporting English gear will earn a shot for every English goal and a free draft for every victory! Britain not your cup of tea? Fear not, because the pub as well as sister bar Oliver's Bar & Grill will have specials for non-England matches as well.

If "Vive La France!" is your motto for this year's Cup, look no further than Tartinery, aptly named because of their delectable tartines served up daily. For all games, come for a tartine, and stay for a drink...or three, because they'll be offering a buy two get one free deal on cocktails, beers and glasses of rosé, perfect to accompany your French delicacy.

Nothing seems more appropo for Germany fans than this Alphabet City beer garden. Enormous steins of German faves and seasonal specialties will be served for $10-$14, and the matches will be aired on the bar’s two TVs and a projection screen. To all you worker bees who fear you won’t be able to catch the games in real time, Zum Schneider will be replaying all the games at night as well. Danke schön!

Ole-ing your way through the Cup? Hit up Cabrito for game one on the 11th (10am EST) and enjoy a special Mexican-inspired breakfast with cocktails, of course (you know what they say about the early bird), or come on any day the USA plays and get a free shot for every American goal. These are the folks behind the infamous Movie Mondays and the craziest Cinco De Mayo fiesta ever, so we’re pretty sure it will be loco no matter what teams are playing.

Watch the defending champions while enjoying authentic cucina Italiana at the West Village’s Trattoria Cinque. Not only are they offering special breakfast, lunch and happy hour menus to coincide with every game, but they are also whipping up specialty cocktails inspired by Cup nations like the Cinquecento made with Campari and fresh orange juice for $10. Best of all, every time Italia wins, they will offer something “VERY special”…who knows, it might just be as exciting as the head-butt seen round the world!

For those troopers willing to wake up early for a pregame or those still out from the night before, Parkside Lounge will open its doors at 7am every day of the World Cup. Every time the U.S. plays, Parkside will provide shots on the house (so let’s hope they go far), and during the first match against England (a.k.a the Revolutionary War take two), your first beer will be on the house! Penalty cards will be given to all patrons, so whether you know the rules of soccer or just need a reason to call out your d-bag friend, this is sure to be one of the rowdiest Cup spots.

200:
For all you fair-weather fans out there, the newly renovated 200 has deals whether you’re rooting for Italy, I mean, France, I mean, the U.S.! During Italy matches, $4 Peronis will be available, $4 shots of Jaeger for Germany games, $4 Absolut shots for Sweden, and so on. If we weren't in to soccer already, this could certainly convert us.
200 Orchard St (@ Houston St.), Lower East Side, 212.673.5350
Mason Dixon:
For all of those fans looking to enjoy the Cup open bar style (Bueller? Bueller?), this rowdy hotspot will offer $40 all-you-can-drink wristbands in addition to tons of other specials like a southern-style breakfast and reduced beer and well drink prices. Rock your team's jersey and your drinks will be 2-for-1 any time they’re on the field. We're just sayin', that could very well subsidize the cost of that Ronaldo jersey you wear once a year.
133 Essex St. (Stanton & Rivington sts.), Lower East Side, 212.260.4100
Nevada Smiths:
Because no soccer roundup would be complete without a mention of the bar where football (read: soccer!) is religion, Nevada Smiths is a surefire winner of a spot to catch the Cup. The bar is renowned for attracting a crowd so come early (the bar opens at 7am!) and stay late for any and all matches. Note that with an early morning opening, cheap drinks and die-hard fans, it’s bound to get sloppy, so bring your tolerance and check your dignity at the door!
74 3rd Ave. (11th & 12th Sts.), East Village, 212.982.2591
Slattery's Midtown Pub:
A Midtown favorite, Slattery's is one bar that won't be playing favorites this Cup. The bar boasts 16 TVs that will air every match that's played, and enough drink specials to keep you planted in your seats. $5 draft beers and $2 shots will be available, as will free shots whenever your team makes a goal. No, this doesn't mean you can be a Mexico fan one minute and a South Africa fan the next (but it can't hurt to try?). Also for every drink purchased, you'll receive a raffle ticket for prizes including bottles of your favorite beverage and Slattery's gift certificates. Score!
