Bar of the Day River Styx
Best Bars for Bathroom Sex
May 20, 2009
Ever wonder why the bathroom line in bars is so damn long? There’s a couple locked in a stall going at it, while you’re crossing your legs and thinking baseball stats to keep your mind off your bladder. Here’s our list of where people have done and can do the dirty.

The Waldorf-Astoria Cocktail Terrace
301 Park Ave.
(49th & 50th Sts.)
Midtown 212.355.3000
The very best thing about this grand ole dame of a hotel is that anybody and we mean anybody can stroll in off the street and wander around the lobby. If you and whoever you’re with gets the urge, walk in, go to the ladies room off the lobby floor, the bathroom can serve as your setting. Once past the bathroom’s sitting area, each stall has a lockable door and is the size of a studio apartment. The walls are so thick; it’s like being in a soundproof room. That’s right; no one can hear you scream.

1Oak
453 W. 17th St (9th & 10th Aves.)
MPD 212.242.1111
Talk about a rough entry! 1Oak’s wallpaper was done so seamlessly that you have to push the walls in the bathroom area to find the door! Once inside, the room is scented with jasmine and lit candles abound. The bathroom attendant is never around, so it’s easy to get romantic, or should we say it’s just easy.
Ono
18 9th Avenue (@W.13th St. )
MPD 212.660.6766
If you’re not getting lucky at the bar, try the unisex bathroom. Genders mingle and flirt around the communal sink. It’s really one bathroom that has separate stalls. Don’t be afraid of the automatic flusher, it can only add excitement.
Church Lounge @ the TriBeCa Grand Hotel
2 6th Ave. (White & Walker Sts.)
TriBeCa 212.519.6600
The Church Lounge is popular with movie stars, suits, B &T’s, and your neighbor. The bathrooms are like cabanas, they’re so big! The stalls have the old-fashioned locks, so you’re safe to lean against the doors. Since the bathrooms are located downstairs, away from prying eyes, let your imagination reign supreme.  Be warned, you may stumble into Sandra Bullock or your high school principal when you tumble out.
Bruno Jamais
24 E. 81st St. (5th & Madison Aves.)
Upper East Side 212.396.3444
Bruno Jamais, once a members-only dinner club, is still just as exclusive. After you’ve blown hundreds on fanciful French fare, head onto the dance floor. Shaking your groove thang can loosen up your date, so take them by the hand and wander downstairs to the very private and spacious loo. If someone knocks, tell them you’re taking private dancing lessons.
Lit
93 2nd Ave. (5th & 6th Sts.)
East Village 212.777.7987
Digging the downtown vibe? Then head on over to hipster and poseur heaven, otherwise known as Lit. The bar is chockfull of pretty and near-pretty things of both genders, the bartenders pour with an easy hand; anything can and does happen. The bathrooms are wheelchair accessible, read large, which doesn’t make sense, ‘cause the only way to get to the basement bar are stairs, but there ya go. If you don’t mind being a contortionist, as there’s always an inch of mysterious liquid on the floor of the bathrooms, it’s possible to get it on in there. Just don’t pick up anything that fell into the ever-present puddle. Gawd knows what you’ll take home.
