For those whose New Year’s Resolutions include helping to save the environment, get off to a good start at the 11th Annual New Year’s Eve Ride, hosted by the environmental organization Time’s Up. Seasoned cyclists and amateur bike riders alike join together every year for this fun—and green—ride around NYC. Bring your bike and meet up at 10:30pm at Washington Square Park, or see the website for alternate meet-up locations and times in Queens and Brooklyn. The ride ends with an outdoor after party at Central park’s Belvedere Castle, complete with fireworks, a potluck, and music by the Rude Mechanical Orchestra.

Downtown sister bars Bondi Road and the Sunburnt Cow are looking forward with their simultaneous New Year’s Eve bash “Genesis: A New Beginning.” Bondi Road (on the Lower East Side) and The Sunburnt Cow (in Alphabet City) will both be featuring a belly-busting all-you-can-eat-and-drink special for $95. Additional perks during the 8pm-1am party include a champagne toast at midnight, special guest DJs, and the opportunity to down chilly shots from the “Ice Luge of Love” (for true romantics).

If you’re going to a club on New Year’s Eve, it’d better be a good one. Entrust the beginning of 2009 to 1OAK, born around the same time as 2008. For $250 per person ($200 before Dec. 25th) you can rock it out to the sounds of DJ Sinatra and enjoy a top shelf bar and passed hors d’oeuvres from 10am-2pm. Echoing the trip-tastic design inside, Times Square-esque LED clocks around the venue will keep the time as the night ticks down.

New York is joining 9 other U.S. cities for the Nationwide New Year’s Eve Party, hosted by New Years Nation. The party gets down at Cipriani Wall Street, and it includes music from DJ RiskOne and Stretch Armstrong, plus a special broadcast of a live performance by Travis Barker and DJ Am in Los Angeles. Enjoy a 6-hour open bar, food, and the requisite champagne—plus, you might end up on ESPN’s “Red Bull: New Year, No Limits.” The party lasts from 9pm–4am, and tickets range from $175-$325.
