1 Republik Lounge: With one of the loudest caution tape-esque facades around, 1 Republik Lounge certainly makes its presence known in the typically cookie-cutter Murray Hill neighborhood. And that’s a good thing for the most part. The U-shaped faux-dive has three different “experiences” all told: a bright Wizard of Oz room, a dark, cellar-like Rat Pack room, and a red-lit Hollywood Movie room. In a way, the “rooms” are akin to a college freshman calling his dorm the “Star Wars Room” due to a few wrinkly posters hanging on the wall, but it’s a fun concept nonetheless and makes for great event space. Their hospitality is second to none, with overly friendly employees that truly seem to care about the time you’re having. Though, with cheap pitchers of beer, shots, cocktails and wine, it’s not hard to have a swell time. Throw in a ton of TVs for sports-viewing and a large outdoor beer garden, and you’d have to be a pretty big drip to not find a good time at this spot.
