With a name like 61 Local, it’s not surprising that this Carroll Gardens public house specializes in…you guessed it…local brews. But they take going green to the next level, eliminating all bottles and offering their beers, sodas and even kombuchea tea exclusively on tap. While this might seem a little gimmicky (and a lot hipstery), owners Dave Liatti (a former engineer at Sixpoint Brewery) and Chris Munsey (Murray’s Cheese) have created an environment so warm and welcoming, you’ll be happy to pull up a stool at one of the communal tables and kumbaya with your neighbor. And don’t think that conservation trumps quality here—the cheese and charcuterie are the perfect accompaniment to the rotating menu of 14 hard-to-find local brews ($6-$8), and you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who knows his hops better than Liatti.
