In classic Lower East Side style, recently renovated Bar 87 has an almost schizophrenic feel to it. Christmas ornaments line the front bar, where you can watch baseball, sip a $1 PBR, and listen to Blonde Redhead in one fell swoop. Get your sexy (and seedy) on in the back corridor, where a disco ball shimmers off the walls to display leather couches that subtly suggest either make out cove or drug den. Take your pick, but rest assured that no matter who you end up on the couch with, the bartender has your back: if you don't make the cut on "No Douche bag" Saturdays, she'll "throw your ass out." Now if only every bar had this policy. Open Mon.-Wed. 6pm-2am, Thu.-Sat. 6pm-4am.
For being outside the clubs, the Thursday comedy show has a surprisingly good lineup. And cheaper drinks, too!

I have tickets to see Ted Alexandro there! I'm amazed that a comedian that big is playing a neighborhood joint. Yay!

A great bar, no doubt, but now they are bringing out something totally different. Thursday nights they are having a comedy show, starting at 8 pm. I believe the first one is June 26. I love this bar and am really excited to see it change things up a bit! the first weeks comics include Ted Alexandro & Steve Hofstetter!
