Alphabet City Beer Co.:
In this New York era of Silicon Alley start-ups, it’s good to see local bucks focused on creating something a little different than a get-rich-quick smartphone app. The co-owners of InVino and The Alphabet City Wine Company have started up a small micro- (if not nano) brewery way east on Avenue C, the third place to brew beer on Manhattan isle after Chelsea Brewing Co. and 508 GastroBrewery. The boys currently have only one offering, a light and refreshing summer seasonal the Alphabet City Easy Blonde, with plenty more planned. Though if you trek all the way over to Avenue C you’ll find a brew kettle and some fermentation tanks, you’ll also find a good selection of cheeses, meats, olives, and pickles, including the aptly named "F***, I Can’t Decide" sampler platter ($15), in addition to salads and sandwiches like the “David Cross” ($7). Never before has learning your ABCs so boosted your BAC.
