Aperitivo: An affordable trattoria in Midtown sounds too good to be true, but Aperitivo, the newest gourmet pizzeria-restaurant to open in Midtown East, manages to pull it off. White leather seats, 30-foot ceilings, abstract paintings—this restaurant has all the luxe trappings of an extravagant NYC eatery, but without the extravagant price tag. Located around the corner from a slew of midtown hotels, Aperitivo, with its open kitchen and wood-burning stove, serves as an impressive place to take out-of-towners without having to blow your week’s paycheck on the bill—pizzas, pastas, and salads are $5.95-$15.95. With the money you save, afterward you can take your group around the corner for cocktails at Latin Quarter, that is if Plaxico Burress hasn’t blown away their liquor license along with a chunk of his thigh. Open daily 11:30am-11pm.
