If there is one thing more annoying than a tough door at a hotspot, it's a tough door at a notspot...and once (if) you get past the enormous white doors at Roam, you'll find a pretenders' palace filled with overspill from the Meatpacking District and Jersey Shore runner-ups. If you're feeling daring, traverse the super tiny dance area, flanked with a few banquettes, or try your luck with death and venture down the dangerously dark, insanely steep staircase. Had the owners not taken into consideration the amount of plastered stilleto-clad ladies who could potentially break their necks here? The downstairs grooves to house, while the upstairs hip-hop floor hosts the bulk of the party. There is even some sort of secluded VIP area near the DJ station, but don't expect any celeb sightings here. Even Kathy Griffith keeps her distance from this place.
