B. Café West:
Belgians prove yet again that they know their beer at B. Cafe West. With nearly 50 different brews served in just about every shape and size of stemware imaginable, this genuine brasserie is a mandatory stop for any beer enthusiast. Granted, most New Yorkers won’t be able to pronounce any of the beers’ names, and the menu is a little steep (the house burger is $14), but don’t let that put you off—the staff is friendly, the brews strong and complex, and B. Café serves frites for a semi-reasonable $6 a pop. On second thought, skip the frites; they’ll just crowd out the beer. Open Sun.-Mon. 5-10pm, Tue.-Sat. 5-11pm.
Belgium is not a city in France ! Actaully it is very famous for fought out and won/lost wars (from the Romans over Napoleon and the Krauts WW 1 & 2). It is also very famous for chocolate, comic strips ( rin tin tin, smurfs, lucky luke ( actually a non racist cowboy ! (and dozens of others)) and of course the most favourite country of the belated Michael Jackson (not the singer) which everybody in the world should know for the absolute beer connaisseur. I have never had the honour of meeting him but I met an incredible nice American in 1988 with the name of Phred Kaufman who owns a beer bar in Sapporro japan. Well to cut it short ... I am an an absolute Belgian (original) beer enthousiast and the absulute best beer that i know of is DARK KASTEELBIER from the Ingelmunster brewery ( 1 : love, 2 : addiction, 3 : ... )

We ate at B. on its 5th day of business. The good: the service, beer, and some of the food--portabello burger, frites, mussels (super fresh). The okay: sauce on the mussels (bland), bread pudding dessert (also bland). The not-okay: Arctic blasts of cold every time someone entered the place. The owners need to install a door guard immediately if not sooner. Tables are minuscule, even for NY. Note: Seemed very kid-friendly.
