Banc Café:
This restaurant, bar, and lounge on the corner of Third Avenue is teeming with over-ripe cami-and-$200-jeans sorority types and their equally unsavory blazer-and-baseball-cap male counterparts. While plush round booths in the restaurant section make the pounding clubby atmosphere a little more comfortable, the $10 martini and cosmo cocktail bar stinks of overindulgence (fortunately there are $5 martini specials). The bar food is high-concept (coconut shrimp and mango) but lacking TLC. Unlike the clientele, the wait staff boasts sleeves of tattoos and rock star hairdos. Unfortunately, this place is about as “rock” as a Maroon 5 concert. Open daily 11am-4am.
someone call al sharpton! i had my 30th birthday party here. my two professional friends came to meet me, and were turned away because they looked "to urban" whatever that means. the bouncer would not explain to me what that meant. i can only say that it might be due to the fact that my friend had an afro. the best part is that we called ahead to reserve tables and no one said a word about a dress code. neadless to say, my friends didn't get in and management is disgusting. if you have black friends don't have your birthday here! i love you g!
