Banter: Brooklyn bar owners—ones with television sets, at least—made an important discovery during last summer's World Cup: Americans are just not as into soccer as the rest of the world...except the Americans living in Brooklyn. Enter new South Williamsburg bar Banter, with all the soccer-bar staples futbol fans have come to expect: dozens of drafts ($4-7), paninis ($8), spacious wooden booths and a gigantic projection screen. While the arrival of Banter may seem untimely—over three more years must pass before another World Cup—will the summer's momentum keep 'em coming for European league games? If so, fans in the 'burg will find a viewing venue with plenty of room, enthusiastic comrades, and enough TVs for any obscure game. If not, well, the space is still pleasant enough—with a few not-so-foreign touches, like local artwork and a rock-n-roll jukebox—to stop and have a beer in, sports aficionado or not (try Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted, $7). A spiffy, spacious bar full of brews and Euros? Score.
