Bar 108
With $5 pints and specialty cocktails, Bar 108 might seem like a standard downtown establishment. But its vintage-y popcorn machine and pretzel stand set it apart, as do its numerous LCD TVs and bar snacks (breakfast burrito, anyone?). Open Mon.-Wed. 4pm-midnight, Thurs. 2pm-2am, Fri. 2pm-4am, Sat. noon-4am, Sun. noon-midnight.

i agree with jay.. has that hotel bar feel without the b.s.! drinks are not too overpriced either (welcome to nyc) Its hard for ladies to find a neighborhood bar with decent wine AND $5 wine specials at happy hour. the weekday staff i encounter is always super sweet. great place to watch the yankee game when you don't want to be surrounded by beer guzzling - wish i was still in college-dudes.

relaxing place, reminds me of a upscale hotel bar without the nonsense.

6 of us went here to watch the NBA All-Star game and given there were only 5 other people in the bar, the waitress said it would be no problem to turn the sound of for the game. We ordered a round of crappy (and not cheap) drinks but come game time the bartender said "Do you know how bad NBA commentry is? I'll kill myself if I have to listen to that for three hours! The sound is not going on!" The only other table in the bar (other than the stools obviously taken by the 5 regulars) also wanted the sound on for the game the but the bartender still refused and said he didn't care about what the waitress had told us. At least its close to a lot of other better bars!

This place doesn't know whether its a:

- sports bar (it has lots of TV screens but they won't turn the sound on)
- dive bar (one wasted middle aged ACDC fan-gone-wrong yelling along to the bad 80's music at 7pm on a Sunday with the place pratically deserted) or
- lounge (decent booths, over-priced cocktails)

In the end does everything badly. Add in a crappy, surly bartender and poor service, I'd go anywhere else before going back here!!
