Bar 30:
Scarily touting your entire (out-of-town) family through Times Square? Work within a stone's throw of "The Rock?" Since you're already forced to be in the area, pop in to Bar 30 and quench your thirst for both booze and views. Despite the fact that this place presides over an area otherwise known for its Christmas tree, it's still worth braving the hordes of tourists for a summertime mojito. After all, owners House Beautiful and Rock Center have teamed up to give this summertime space an (almost) Hamptons-esque vibe. Outside, a bright whitewashed deck fits the bill for outdoor cocktails and snickering at out-of-towners, while the inside lounge is splashy but airy, offering relief if your SPF isn’t doing the trick. It's not the sort of place where you should expect to see Tina Fey, but you can encounter plenty of other visitors desperate to see her--or at least to glimpse that hot girl who plays Cerie. Get here while it’s hot (as in heat) because the place it set to close after labor Day.
I work at 30 Rock and couldn't wait to meet a friend for lunch right outside my building. Well, I WILL NEVER GO BACK NEXT YEAR. The service was the worst I have ever seen in NYC. What's that about?

BAD Service
My coworkers and I just had lunch at this pop-up restaurant. We were seated 20 minutes before a waiter came to take our order. During the 20 minutes, we tried to get assistance from other staff and the manager, who informed us that our waiter Salvatore was "in the weeds." As the manager, he should have at least taken a drink order to help alleviate the wait time. We observed our waiter taking the orders of people who arrived after us, and having lengthy conversations at their table. The three glasses of wine we ordered were all different sizes. And when I asked for my glass to be level to my coworkers, I was brought a new glass and apologized to---only to be charged for both glasses at the end of the meal! The food was overpriced for what it was, but you come to these restaurants for the ambience. Unfortunately for us, there was none. Oh, and they add on 20% gratuity at lunch, without indicating this on the menu. Avoid.

We stopped here during our NYC stroll. We were tired and hungry and this place was there. Ambiance nice. Waitress sucked and was rude. Mini burgers good and worth the $10. Salad good, too. Drink stout. So stout, not enjoyable. Had to wait on the check so long, decided to not leave a tip. Waitress finally reappeared. Asked if we wanted the check, not if we wanted anything else. Got checked and was charged $14 for my $11 drink I ordered off the menu. AND there was an $8 service fee. No wonder the service sucked-- the wait staff gets paid no matter what!!

This place was terrible, my 6 year old came in to work with me and I thought I'd take him for a cool lunch out doors. we get a table by the cougarish hostess and her pole dancing daughter who wriggled and writhed so much as she stood there "hostessing" that businessmen would stop and watch, i was embarrassed for my lil guy, it was after all 1 p.m. in rockefeller center not 12 a.m. on the vegas strip. The sliders or "mini burgers" took forever, were completely unevenly cooked, over seasoned in some spots and under in others, burnt on the outside raw on the inside, the buns were mismatched 2 topps 2 bottoms, WTF. Place was clearly run by people who could care less.

While running errands by Rockefeller, a coworker and I stopped here for a nice lunch outside. Food was overpriced, too small of portions for the prices and bad all around (lettuce in salad was brown, mini burgers were cold to touch and undercooked and $12 for 4 medium sized shrimp). The service was hardly any better. The only good thing was the sangria. Even better was the $10 "service" fee tagged on to the bill which wasn't mentioned anywhere and was more than 20% of the food total. There are too many other decent choices in the area to waste your time and money here.
