Every neighborhood has a perfect “catch up with old friends” spot, and Park Slope’s is Bar Toto. Especially if your version of “catch up” is “drink three bottles of wine over dinner.” Though the restaurant’s bar is often packed with both singles and pairs, small groups munching on bruschetta easily fill the wooden tables. The dinner rush draws the baby-in-a-bar crowd, but 20-somethings flock to the airy European-style joint for long conversation, good music, and chic literati conversations. The classy regulars may give off a “hoodie-wearing street hipsters need not apply” vibe, but it’s contrasted by the staff’s warmer welcome. It’s even worth a trip from the city, if only to see the shocking sight of a waitress smiling. Open Sun. 11am-1am; Mon.-Thu. 11am-midnight; Fri.-Sat., 11am-1am.
