Basik: In an era of Ninja-style gimmicks and over-the-top outrageous spectacles a la LAVO, sometimes it's gratifying to take it down a notch and get back to the basics. And where better than Williamsburg's Basik, the new minimalist contemporary bar that lacks frills, but is rich with culinary thrills. Sit within the enclosed backyard and chow down on the Basik dog (slathered in half-sour relish, white onion and celery salt, $5). Sure, it's not your basic Coney Island dog, but it's basically one of the best hot dogs you’ll find around town. Cocktail options, too, lean toward classic with a twist, as with the Poppa's Pride (bourbon, ginger, mint, lemon, soda and angostura) and the quaint My Maine Influence (blended scotch, sloe gin, lemon, lime, Lillet syrup and Peychaud's). This place may be basic, but you better believe it's not boring!
