Beauty & Essex: The beautiful people have already infiltrated Beauty & Essex, the new restaurant/lounge/pawn shop (really!) from the owners of Stanton Social. Pass through that pawn shop (still not kidding) to find an ornately decorated two-story venue filled with aged mirrors, metallic flowers, a skylight, and walls upholstered with animal hair. With lavish details like a pearl chandelier spanning the ceiling of one room, antique necklaces adorning the walls of another and a bartender serving champagne in the bathroom, you might think you’ve wandered onto the set of Gossip Girl (or maybe it’s because Lily van der Woodsen, a.k.a. Kelly Rutherford, is dining in the corner). After enough delicious Golden Peacock cocktails (cucumber hangar one & junmai sake, granny smith apple, pineapple & mint), you might believe you’re a wealthy socialite too (at $13 a pop, you’ll be spending like one). Thank goodness you’ve got an easy way to pay your bill—selling your watch sure beats washing dishes! |
