Becco is primarily a restaurant and its owners, PBS celeb chef Lidia Bastianich and her son Joseph, serve up her home-style Northen Italian specialties to the masses of suburbanite women who flock here. The extensive $20 wine list attempts to deconstruct the difficulty of picking the perfect vintage by adding flavorful descriptions. After whetting your palate on one of the reasonably priced Italian vinos, be sure to move on to the pricier reserve list. The bar is the place to be if you can’t get one of the cramped tables. Those who have hopes of sharing a glass of Prosecco with Signora Bastianich should settle for a night of PBS and her cookbook since you’re more likely to encounter the famous cook’s photograph here than her actual presence.
