Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club:
South Street Seaport's happy-hour crowd will arrive at Pier 17's Water Taxi Beach this summer to find their sandy spot with a new name—and a slightly tweaked recipe—but the same basic flavor. The sunny-season, post-work hangout, now called Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club, has redecorated with reclaimed wooden tables, plastic light-up couches and a front deck area. Add a few new items to the chalkboard menu, park a foosball table up front, throw a Grand Opening party and voila, a new nightlife venue. But let's be honest: drinking pricey cocktails in the company of suits and tourists on a city-scaped bed of sand is either your scene, or it's not (even if there is bratwurst and a ping-pong table). Beekman Beer Garden remains the crowded combo of biz-casual bingers and wide-eyed Midwestern mamas—set to an odd techno-beat backdrop—that prevailed under previous management.
