The boozy brains behind Rattle N Hum introduce a shining new brew beacon to the beer bar wasteland by Port Authority. A space with this much elbow room (3,000 sq. ft. on the second floor alone!) is a rare virtue in NYC, but major kudos are due for providing the ultimate large bar utopia–sufficient restrooms to facilitate drunken needs. This two-tiered inn raises the now commonplace craft beer standards, offering over 60 drafts on their upper level 63-ft. mahogany bar, including Stone Pale Ale and Founders Porter. For now, Midtown tipplers will have to settle for the breeze that blows through the tall windows covering two walls, as the proposed rooftop beer garden awaits a permit to go-ahead. But even without this outdoor seating, Beer Authority is still a welcome oasis in the Midtown craft-brew desert.
