Beer Table:
Looking for a date spot that’s somewhere between pub and wine bar? Exposed brick, tall wood tables, soft music, and candlelight make Beer Table a picturesque setting for sampling the bar’s extensive list of international brews. Stella will seem as bland as Keystone as you sort through flavor descriptions that include characteristics like “popcorn,” “rubber,” or “pineapple.” The staff is friendly and willing to help you choose from the reasonably-priced to the exorbitant, like $95 17-ounce bottles of Baladine Xyauyù, a northwest Italian “barley wine” that takes almost three years to brew and isn't sold anywhere else in New York. Whichever brew you select can be washed down with platters of paté, smoked meats, and cheese. Just be warned, if you pop in here early in the evening, expect strollers parked out front—burping your baby while throwing back a brewski is how the Park Slope parent rolls.
This is the place for people looking for some truly different and exotic beers but don't forget your wallet or do if you are with friends because the bill can get steep quick. I went with my brother and girl friend. We split three bottles of beer and the bill was $98. The key is to take advantage of the free sampling.
