Berry Park: Williamsburg can be a tough place to make a splash—with three bars for every drunk, a place needs an angle in order to survive. Fortunately, Berry Park's is simple: one of the best rooftop views in the area. On any given sun-day, you can grab one of their many imported beers, from Gosser ($7) to Weinstephaner ($8) and park yourself on the big wooden deck. When it's cold or rainy, "bury" yourself inside for a soccer match, projected on a massive screen. In fact, inside isn't such a bad place to be in general, as the interior is spacious and candle-lit, with dark oak giving it an upscale beer hall vibe. Plus the place just added a menu, and food just might be this Park's department. Items such as a substantial sweet potato soup ($7) and the meat and cheese platter ($12) will help sustain your buzz, and nothing says "Eastern Europe" quite like jambalaya ($12, and worth every penny). Just don't expect any local brew with your local view. |
