In a city where bars come and go, Bar’rique Varietals & Kitchen came and…morphed into Bin on Bleecker. Much of the décor is the same as when the amped-up wine bar originally opened in early 2011 (mounted boar’s head included), but gone is Executive Chef Scott Crombie and his elevated pub fare. The menu is decidedly more Italian this go ‘round, with arancini ($12), crostini ($6) and a Faicco’s sweet sausage panini ($15) making the cut, but new Chef JP Contreras willingly serves burgers to the twenty- and thirty-somethings who still want them (cheddar, pickled vegetables and fries, $16). As before, wine is the most abundant bevvy poured behind the marble-topped bar, but beer drinkers can now revel in the expanded selection of suds. Shakespeare said a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but a bar by another name? Sweeter.
