Hop in a cab heading north and just as you realize that Ten 18 stands for the address, you’ll arrive at this cozy Morningside Heights bistro. The setting is distinctly Euro, with hexagonal tiled floors, sidewalk seating, top-notch charcuterie and live Jazz on Thursdays. Despite conjuring a bit of Paree right here in Manhattan, the bistro prides itself on its American roots, using only the freshest local ingredients in the rotating menu. Even the bar features beers and wines from local brewers ($6-$14)—their three drafts are from Cooperstown, Saratoga and Harrisburg, PA—while their specialty martinis ($12-$14) all feature freshly squeezed juices. As with any sustainable establishment, you’re going to have to drop some dollars to pair your beverages with their cuisine (hey, it costs green to go green). To pinch your pennies, stop by from 3-7pm any afternoon for the 2-for-1 happy hour and tapas specials.
