The convivial ambiance at Blaggard’s belies the “it’s just another pub” atmosphere. Live music rocks the dark wood interior on Fridays and Saturdays (usually for a cover charge), giving you a reason to not stay in your airless, closet-sized apartment and drink solo. If you’re looking for some traditional Irish tunes or a snappy jig, this is the spot to select. Pretenses are useless here—it’s an Irish bar serving a crowd of people looking to chill over a pint and some bangers ’n’ mash and other pub grub. Judging by the number of suits, the after-work crowd appreciates the “keep it simple” philosophy as well as the friendly service and convenience. Among the waxing-nostalgic city images around the room, tourists and locals vie for conversation rights in between sips of beer or scraps of food. Happy hour is Monday thru Wednesday from 5pm-8pm.
