Blitz! Brasserie:
The ever-cursed awning of 13th and 6th (most recently home to Rockography), has been totally revamped and transformed into a faux-classy, well, brasserie. While the menu at Brasserie BLITZ! (yeah, we don’t get the name either) certainly has some highlights—the side of mac and cheese with a parmesean breadcrumb crust ($8) does a great job soaking up booze—the hum-drum ambience isn’t likely to set off a media blitz. A pool table awkwardly fills the back room while the rest of the floor has too-small tables and booths sprinkled around the needlessly large, golden-walled dining area. Some of the drinks here are definite hits, including the Queen Anne’s Revenge (their take on a Bloody Mary, made with sundried-tomato-infused vodka, $12), but most are sweet and poorly prepared to the point where you’ll wake up feeling like you got caught in a blitzkrieg the night before. Oh, maybe that’s where the name comes from!
