Blue & Gold:
Three words: bargain basement booze. This grimy East Village dive is a good place to pick up a brawny biker or slum it with the rest of us while twirling your cue stick. Just be careful not to get hustled, as the crowd is a little rough around the edges. And don’t even think about paying with plastic, as unsurprisingly only cash is accepted (thankfully those drinks, including the Dirty Hipster, are just $4). Black and white photos line the walls, the floors are sticky, and newcomers are eyeballed, but if you’re looking to get drunk without hitting the ATM first, do a cannonball into this dive.
The drinks are pretty cheap, but the staff kind of sucks. I guess you pay for what you get. As a bartender you have two primary functions: 1) to serve drinks and 2) to be hospitable. If you can't do ONE of those TWO functions, then you're just totally worthless and in the wrong industry. Go code a website, you asocial dork.

6 months before I turned 21 I tried to enter B & G for a cold pint of Magic Hat #9, which is a rare find in the city. I obviously didn't notice the front door which is decorated with fake id's. Really embarassing.
However, on my 21st birthday I decided to visit my old pal, which was by then hanging on the front door, and finally get that pint. Was it worth it? Probubly not, but the house brew is quite good.
