Blue Haven:
Situated on the corner of Houston and Thompson that divides the NYU students of Greenwich Village from the artists of SoHo, Blue Haven is just that—a haven—for everyone else in the neighborhood. With seven flatscreen TVs, a pub-grub heavy menu and minimalist décor, you might mistake it for a Murray Hill sports bar, but the Yankee game is only on as an afterthought. Instead, the crowd of twenty-something office workers loosen their ties and kick off their heels as they indulge in Haven’s wide selection of unique craft beers ($5-$9) ranging from local brews (Coney Island Albino Python) to hard-to-find imports (Hitachino Nest). Our advice? Arrive before 8pm for Happy Hour, order yourself a Delirium Tremens at $2 off, and see where the night takes you…just make sure it doesn’t take you to the dart room in back—sharp objects don’t mix well with 9% alcohol content.
