Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya:
The Blue Ribbon restaurants are what happens when two brothers collaborate instead of trying to see who can arm-wrestle the other into the ground or shoot spit balls the furthest across the kitchen table. In '92 the Bromberg brothers Bruce and Eric opened Blue Ribbon Sushi, and 20 years later they can boast an even swankier pad, Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya, within walking distance. Izakaya’s interior is beautiful and all, but a bowl of steak and mushroom fried rice is just not worth $22, and with the high-price food came a matching air of pretention from surrounding tables. The patrons sitting on backless seats looked ready to snatch their entrées ($25-$150) from the staff’s hands. Two things to remember when venturing here: come with an empty wallet and a full head of hot air. Or is it the other way around?
