bOb:
This pick-up spot sits on a semi-quiet street not clogged with the nearby throngs of swarming Lower East Side bar-hoppers. Still, plenty of people find their way to the sweaty parties held inside bOb’s itty-bitty confines. Hip-hop DJs spin nightly, sometimes venturing into neighboring genres like reggaeton. Though not technically a dance club, the seating arrangement creates a seductive vacuum in the center of the floor. If you just want to chill, show up early and dig the art installations; stay late and prepare yourself for the meat market. Guys may have some trouble getting through the door on weekends, a measure to help control the male-female ratio and keep bOb from turning into a sausage party.
This spot ten years ago, was the "It" place. Any given night you could stop by and run into celebrities. To name a few Rosie Perez, LL Cool J, and even Brad Pitt. Nowadays you get a lot of cultured college kids and b&t goers. However, the ambiance remains the same. Although the space is as big as my living room, the DJ keeps the people dancing all night long. The drinks are properly mixed and the bouncers are very social. Just one rule guys, please come with a date or at least pretend you are; its the best way to enter Bob'z!

I came to bOb on Friday, July 18 @ 7:30pm because I wanted to check the place out and decide if I want to have my party there!! Maaan, I ended up leaving at 2:00 in the morning!!! The music from the time I stepped into the venue was on point especially. They played R&B/reggae/Hip-hop/Old skool rap r&b classics. They even mixed in some Madonna and Journey in there!! Although the place was small, it wasn't uncomfortable and I am a big fan of original brick walls and they got'em. The drinks range from $6-$10 dollars, the crow was diverse and nice looking, people came into the bar DANCING!! Everyone was there to have a great time! There wasn't a bathroom line and there was enough seating because everyone was UP dancing!! One of the highlights was when Fatman Scoop (HOT 97 on-air personality) was their just relaxing and did an impromptu "performance" LOVED IT!!! Anyway I will be having my birthday there next week and I looking forward to it!!
