Boiler Room:
This is one of the straightest gay bars in the city. At first glance, it looks like a frat bar on the Upper East Side—except there are no females, or straight guys yelling, throwing up, or falling asleep drunk. Instead, the Boiler Room heats up with “straight-acting” men in baseball caps and A&F T-shirts cruising each other while knocking back Rolling Rocks. But what really rocks about this bar is its lack of pretense. There’s nothing fancy about the bar or the men, most of who are in their 20s and 30s. A pool table, an awesome jukebox, some video games, and friendly bartenders make this an ideal place to grab a drink on weekdays or mingle with a larger crowd on the weekend.
