Bourgeois Pig Brooklyn: Carroll Gardens just got way cheesier—deliciously cheesier, that is, thanks to the new outpost of French-style fondue fave Bourgeois Pig on Court St. The East Village bar finally comes to Brooklyn and it’s brought its baroque, bordello vibe with it. The romantic red-hued lounge cuts quite the figure, adorned with velvet banquettes, vintage chandeliers and Victorian armchairs. Cozy up with your beau in a plush couch as you indulge in shareable small plates like cheese, charcuterie, tartines and, of course, fondue, both savory and sweet. While the bites are imported from the Manhattan original, the Brooklyn bar has one thing its wine-and-beer-only predecessor doesn’t: a full liquor license. The cocktail list is chock-full of Continental spirits (think Spanish brandies, Italian amari, Austrian liqueurs), with titillating tipples like the “Petit Frere” (cognac, Ratafia de Bourgogne, lemon, grapefruit, cinnamon, absinthe and bitters, $10) and the “Fleur de Florence” (Florentine hazelnut and cocoa tea, black walnut bitters and champagne, $10). But don’t worry, vino lovers—BP’s popular half-priced bottles also made it onto the new menu. With its sensual style and spread, Bourgeois Pig proves a perfect date spot for Brooklynites, and while aphrodisiacs like wine and oysters may make you want to go home for some, er, dessert, the chocolate fondue’s the next best thing.
