Bowery Electric:
Located in the former Remote Lounge, Bowery Electric has transformed a faux '70s Mission Control Center into what could be The Cure’s backstage hangout room. This unplugged version—owned by Mike Stuto of HiFi and Jesse Malin and Johnny T of Niagara and Black and White—doesn't do much to set it apart from other NoHo haunts. Blue striped walls, dark wood fixtures, and sepia-washed paintings try to evoke a Victorian milieu, while the DJ spins a mix of classic rock from a booth equipped with its own chandelier. If the sparse rocker-emo crowd is too much for you, try moving to the back room for some shameless necking. There you’ll find couches, vintage trunks, and a few other intentional knick-knacks—it feels as if the owners were going for antique chic, but ran out of money halfway through. Oh well, at least the bartenders are cute. Let's hope some rocker sightings kick the shock factor up a watt.
This place thinks way too highly of itself. Low class crowd, cheesy faux rock n' roll vibe. Makes me like Jesse Malin's music a little less just knowing he is involved with this dump. Hopefully something will happen that results in them closing and someone half decent taking over the space and creating a better venue.

MANAGER RUINED MY PARTY
I had my birthday party here last night. In order to reserve space downstairs I needed to give my credit card number to Diane (the extremely RUDE manager), which I did a month ago. When I got to the bar the bouncer wouldn't allow me to go downstairs because they claimed that my credit card was declined. After embarrassing me in front of my friends at the door, I showed her that she had written the number down wrong! Why they didn't call me before about this concern is beyond me. I also had 2 friends waiting upstairs and they rudely asked them to leave b/c my party was at capacity (which was not the case). I called Diane the day after, hoping to at least get an apology, but instead she basically told me she could care less. Save yourself the aggravation, go somewhere better!
