Everyone knows the best barbecue comes from the South. But how about South...Africa? With Braai, the owners of Xai Xai (a wine bar of similar geographic origin) set out to make a strong case for occasionally skipping the usual pulled pork-joints. That includes the decor, as the place is decked out (on the verge of “over-the-top”) with a convex bamboo-plated ceiling, smooth tree-trunk pillars, and other indigenous design elements that want to make you eat a roasted yak with your bare hands. Start with a "koktel" konkokted with the sweet tooth in mind, e.g., “Ja Well No Fine:” Starr Africa rum, pineapple and lime juice ($12). For dinner, try the Ostrich Mini-Sosaties: ostrich meat, peppers, onions and apricots marinated in a sweet and sour tamarind sauce. For you day trippers, the brunch menu offers $8 all-you-can-drink mimosas and two-for-one Peri-Peri Mary’s. Welcome to the jungle: we got rum and game.
Wow, i have to say I really miss Sortie, but man this place is beautiful! The previous owner of sortie, Juan Coronado made the cocktail menu and it is the craziest thing ever! man sooo nice. The food was really unique and satisfying, The vibe is really mellow, comfortable but still very classy. There are a few seats at the bar and a big door that give fresh summer breeze. I'd make a reservation casue its new and HOT!
