Brooklyn Tavern: If you can get past Brooklyn Tavern’s nondescript exterior, you’ll find, well, a pretty nondescript interior. Its couches, round tables, and chairs look a bit thrown together, scattered among five TV’s, a ‘70s- and ‘80s-dominated jukebox, and a golfing video game. The room itself, however, is rather homey: Decades ago, this was part of a boarding house, a past reflected in brick walls, tin ceilings, massive doorways, and a cozy fireplace. Today, it’s a simple, low-key drinking establishment for locals of all flavors; they come for the cheap happy hour pints and stay for the massive backyard patio and yard, which boasts a BBQ and a friendly Bring Your Own Meat grilling policy. Come winter, try to snag the comfy fireside easy chair—it’s the best seat in the house. |
