The décor of this hip, minimalist Billyburg resto may be cute enough for a date, but it's not suggested for a first rendez-vous, as the mirror-and-plate-lined walls that have you watching yourself eat may be a little awkward for an initial meeting. Their modest menu is Chinese 2.0 and even offers specialized vegan and gluten-free options. Cantonese plates made using "French handcrafted techniques" like the Beef Short Rib Soup ($12.50) or Black Bean Tofu ($9.50) arrive fresh from chef Edric Har's kitchen and are well-complemented with a variety of draft beers ($6) or a glass of red, white or sparkling wine ($7). The family-run business (it's a joint venture betwee Har and wife Melissa) is only open for dinner at press time, but promises a surely delicious Dim Sum brunch coming soon. No matter what you're eating, be prepared for huge portions—guess the next step up from take-out is take-home, huh?
