Bua:
There’s no “boo” in Bua. The staff is super-chill at this boilerplate suds shop where lounge lizards perch on chesterfields while sipping martinis and pints of imported beer. Don't be surprised if you find East Village hotties making-out until 4am--you probably will too once you sink into the cozy confines that flicker with candlelight. The Bua crowd is a bit more in bloom than its neighbors, but it is St. Marks, so it’s not totally NYU-free. Outside seating has drinkers getting that bronzy glow during the summer months. But, honestly, why sit outside when you can bask in all that drunken candle-lit make-out glory?
5 stars to this great bar, nice friendly bartenders, good food esp the cheese toastie, love the exposed brickwork & candles,my change was spot on, maybe the other ladies had way toooo many cocktails!! the irish bartender couldn't have been more pleasant, the hot apple cider was just rite for december, next time im on hol's from ireland il defo call.............

Wow, somebody has an agenda!! Bua is a cool bar. They make good drinks and look after people in a genuine way. Sure its a popular place that gets busy on weekends but that always happens to good bars. Don't be a hater! And their drink prices are better than most.

I live around the corner and I hate this place. It started out with a very under aged crowd, mostly of non-East Village, Queens type blue collar worker children. Now it has a police state atmoshphere. Further, the drinks are more expensive than many of the traditional local places. For sure, it is not cool. Most importantly, count your change when you buy a drink.

This is a cozy place that I like in the winter because of the candles inside, but in the summer the tables out on the patio is perfect for hanging out on a late afternoon early evening enjoying a cool one. The bartenders are friendly and relaxed and the crowds is ok, it can be a little young on the weekends because of the location, but it’s not too bad. I’ve been here plenty of times and I gotta say, this place serves one of the best apple martinis I’ve tasted.
