BXL Cafe:
The Midtown East branch of westside Belgian cafe BXL is now open. A true beer lovers’ paradise in a neighborhood that caters to the wine and whiskey crowd. The bartenders are educated about ales and fluent in the language of Lambic. They have 14 brews on tap, including Leffe Blonde and Brune, Duvel Green and Witte. Stronger beers like Gulden Draak (10.5% alcohol) and sweeter favorites like raspberry lambic Lindemans Framboise are also available. The decor is a mix of old New York and a proper Belgian beer house with its tin-foil ceiling. They provide customized glasses for each variety of beer. Mondays are for mussel lovers; stop by for their all-you-can-eat special. For beer and play, BLX East will not disappoint.
BXL on E 51st is a terrible restaurant, for both food and service. The food is bland and tasteless, but far worse is the service. Extremely poor management, rude and incompetent, makes this restaurant appalling. Avoid at all costs.
