Yes, the Candela Candela sign outside does cry out Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. And yes, maybe it’s a bit out of place in the grimy East Village. But, once you come inside this makeshift Buena Vista Social Club sprinkled with Italian touches, you’ll find yourself lost in the variety of specialty mojitos and martinis that make this fused establishment more vibrant than a fascist plantain. Make sure to hit up happy hour when the normally priced $9 mojitos drop down to five measly bucks. Like the beverages, the food menu has a curious mix of Caribbean-meets-Mediterranean flare. Unfortunately, you’ll have to search for that elusive “Cheeseburger in Paradise” elsewhere.
Steak is GREAT!!!! staff are cool and the atmosphere is festive while relaxing. The sun hits this spot and makes it sweeter in the afternoon making their cocktails sublime! Highly recommend this established East Village family owned restaurant. LOVE IT!!!!!!
