Casa Lever Garden:
“Seasonal” bars are the current hotness in New York—especially during the hottest of seasons—and Casa Lever Gardens is one of the more swank additions to the summer of 2011. Open from May to October, no matter the weather, the Gardens is comprised of a bar, lounge, and restaurant, all outdoors in the plaza but covered—or, at least, umbrella’ed—and annexed onto the upscale Casa Lever Italian restaurant in the Lever House. A small menu of pricey Milanese small plates ($18-19) and summer entrees like squid ink tagliolini ($24) and scaloppine ($39) are available for noshing as you scout out the starched shirt scene on Park Avenue. Likewise, there’s plenty of respectable wine that’ll make for a most costly buzz ($11-$25 a glass). The Casa Lever Gardens is all class, but at these prices, be glad its only scheduled for half the year.
