Cavatappo Wine Bar:
On a street full of big ol’ noisy bars with flashy signs and sidewalk tables, it’s easy to miss Cavatappo Wine Bar, one of the Upper East Side’s better venues for vino. With its modest blue and orange awning and bistro-inspired lettering on the window, this little gem will have you dreaming of Italy. Cavatappo’s respectable wine list features over 60 labels by the bottle and 50 by the glass, but the real draw here is the bar’s intimate, vibrant one-room space. There’s a good chance you’ll be able to hear the details of the conversation happening beside you—two rows of barstools on either side of the narrow, brick-colored tile floor are all the seats Cavatappo has to offer. So use your inside voice, please, or at least have something juicy to say.
This place is fantastic, the wine selection is more Italian than anything else, but that is not always a bad thing. The intimnate setting and the outdoor seating are great and it's a good place to go to truly relax and have a good glass of wine.
