When your next door neighbors are Per Se and Porter House, you’re going to have to try hard to keep up with the (drinking) Joneses. Luckily, Michael Lomonaco’s wine bar is up to the challenge. Set on the fourth floor of the Time Warner Center, it resides in the atrium space next to Per Se and his own Porter House. It’s probably no surprise that the large and comfortable room serves plenty of pricey wine, but not to worry because it also serves pricey champagne and pricey cocktails (like it’s classic Manhattan, $15)—though what else would you expect? While sinking into the luxurious banquettes, enjoying your spectacular view of the peons below, and listening to a soothing piano man, one can also snack on small munching plates like ceviche ($15) and caviar ($MP). OK, so Center Bar isn’t exactly a place for pitchers and beer pong—then again, that would be one epic game.
