Chow Bar’s name indicates a struggle between restaurant and bar, and the restaurant wins. It’s not as fabulous as other Asian restaurants and it’s certainly not as trendy, cavernous, and over the top as places like Buddha Bar, Tao, and Morimoto. What it is, though, is a nice little spot for some tuna and sake, or maybe a ginger cosmo or watermelon martini soaked up by a calamari salad and spare ribs. Just off the craziness of Seventh Avenue South, Chow Bar’s outside seating allows good people-watching without the danger of drunken girls in too-high stilettos crashing into you. Just go easy on the white sake sangria—that stuff will knock you on your ass.
I host "Dim Sum Burlesque" every Sunday night at Chow Bar as well. Dinner starts at 8 PM with a prixe fixe menu ($25) or a la carte. The show begins at 9 PM featuring many prominent burlesque performers in NYC, live music, songs, and magic and illusion acts. Show cover is only $12! Hope to see you in the audience!

The food is good and the owner comes out and greets everyone. Good with comping drinks if you're a regular. Its hit or miss with the talent level though.
