Silent movie fans will like all four Manhattan Cinema Cafés, a chain borne of restaurateur Steve Galanis’s passion for classic Hollywood films. With movie scenes painted on walls and wood finished in black, the décor at Cinema Café at 60th is fun, if gimmicky. Happy hour (5pm-7pm, Monday-Thursday) deals include “Cinematinis” in unusual flavors like Sake Melon Ball, Ginger-pear-tini, and Lychee-tini for $6 apiece, while glasses of rose or white wine sangria are $5. The bar offers a varied selection of nearly 20 bottled beers, ranging from $4 domestics to $7 imports. Cinema Café tends to keep matinee hours, closing at 10pm from Monday through Friday, and at 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. That’s right, folks—a bar that closes before you even get out of bed.
