Co. Pizzeria:
Jim Lahey’s new 50+-seat Chelsea pizzeria has taken a fresh—and refreshing—approach to one of the things New York is so well known for: pizza. Thin-crusted, Neapolitan-style, and insanely topped with various goodies, his pies bake at approximately 700 degrees in a wood-burning oven imported from Modena. The staff is terrific and thoroughly knowledgeable on all things pizza (as you can tell by all the facts stuffed into the previous sentence). There’s a bar area with a small range of drafts and wine bottles to choose from but, truth be told, alcohol selection is not the reason to come here. Seating is done at long, simply designed communal tables, that subtly transcribe the restaurant’s unspoken message—when you come here, you’ll eat good food in good company. Open Tues.-Sat., 5pm-11pm.
