Colicchio & Sons:
In light of the success of Craft’s bi-weekly Tom: Tuesday Dinner, Chef Tom Colicchio has transformed the massive space that once house Craftsteak into Colicchio & Sons. It's a two room, two menu New American eatery whose main draw is that, at least for now, it has the Top Chef judge actually cooking in the kitchen. The seasonally-driven menu is served in a high-ceiling, modern space, amidst a wine tower, thin lighting fixtures and a wood-burning oven. But that pile of logs ain't there (just) for show, as the oven they fuel is the one in which many of the dishes served in the more casual Tap Room are cooked. And while the Tap Room is affordable ($11 for a pizza to $24 for Herb Roasted Poussin and potatoes), the formal area, which just transitioned from prix fixe to a la carte, has entrees in the $30-range.
