Commerce:
Dust off your pinstripes, this West Village haunt roars like the 1920s. Fifty Commerce Street began as a notorious speakeasy called the Blue Mill, and years later it housed the beloved Grange Hall. Its latest occupant harks back to those bustling days of guys and molls, but with a decidedly modern twist. Commerce’s décor boasts a gorgeous art deco mural, cozy booths and a sturdy bar, where well-dressed young professionals share bottles of vino and jeans-and-T-shirt locals sip on cocktails such as the Nor'easter, a fresh ginger-rum concoction. Fill up on hearty American Nouveau cuisine, including potato-based tortellini and beef shank for four, courtesy of chef Harold Moore (Montrachet). The swanky vibe will cost you a pretty penny, but like a good suit, it's worth it.
