Crispo:
A big, airy Italian restaurant with the feel of an Olde English mead hall, Crispo remains an underappreciated culinary experience. The atmosphere is rustic, with lots of exposed brick and wood surfaces, and a long bar you’d sooner recognize in your favorite Irish pub. But don’t come for beers—it’s the grub you want. The rotating specials include unique prosciutto dishes, salads, and vegetable dishes, alongside a wide-ranging menu of carnivorous delights (veal medaglione, lamb chops). Most entrées are entrenched in the $18-$25 range. And the special $10 martinis feature every fruity flavor under the sun (even pomegranate), which should begin a trend of matching martinis with dishes instead of wine. Don’t forget the wine list—it runs longer than the walk home after you’ve gorged yourself silly. Use caution.
I have been to Crispo several times and have always enjoyed my dining expereince. The food is always fresh and reasonably priced. The cripsy veal with mozarella, tomatoes and brocolli rabe is by far my favorite dish. The service is great. I am a stickler with service and have never had an issue with this here. The atmosphere is rustic, cozy, and yet romantic at the same time. Whether you are going to dinner with your significant other, family members or a bunch of friends Crispo is always the perfect go to for an overall enjoyable dining expereince. I highly recommend.
