Crudo Vineria con Cucina: Va bene, Little Italy, Crudo Vineria con Cucina is here! Yes, this itsy Italian joint is pretty typical of the neighborhood…and when the neighborhood is the more-authentically-Italian-than-Little-Italy area known as Nolita, we consider that a good thing! This sun-drenched, brick-walled dining room boasts a casual vibe, affordable prices, outdoor tables, and a menu stuffed with dishes that far exceed its style. One attribute it doesn’t share with its neighbors, however, is an insufferable wait…not yet, anyway! That’s not to say that it doesn’t deserve one—the large, well-balanced, Southern Italian menu offers options like fried foods aplenty and tartars beyond your wildest dreams (we’re talking swordfish and wild salmon here, $14 each), sure to suit calorie-counters and over-indulgers alike. While beer is available, you’ll best embrace the pride of Palermo by ordering one of the bottles of wine displayed along the wall (many in the $30-$40 range) and toasting “Salute!” to this cherished part of town.
