The gilded age of nightlife may very well be upon us. Not too long after the opening of SoHo’s GoldBar, D’Or ("of gold" in French), is the latest foray into the “precious-metal” genre. Located in the basement of the recently opened Amalia restaurant (inside the Dream Hotel), D’Or is a cavernous space (one might say a scenier version of the Batcave) aimed at attracting the younger, hipper set to this trendy midtown location (whether or not it succeeds at this remains to be seen). Features include a "floating" staircase entrance, Rococo-esque artwork, crystal chandeliers, and modern design. But despite all this effort, will midtown ever be downtown? We’re doubtful, but we’ll still enjoy the great drinks.
sounds like that chick got pissed off cos she didnt get in... i like D'or cos its bringing back the "velvet rope"-when they used to make sure only the beautiful people got inside a place and kept it "cool"

All I have to say is HORRIBLE!!!! It may look pretty but it's operations are ran by a whole lot of ugly. The staff is rude and selective. And by that I mean, if you don't have the right "look" or too much melanin in your skin, you may want to turn around and save yourself the time and effort. UNLESS, of course you want to buy bottles. PLEASE! I HIGHLY suggest you think twice before you head to this place or any of the Dream Hotel Lounges. It's TOTALLY NOT for the grown and sexy!
